From The Watery Grave

[Inspired by Jonah's prayer from the belly of the whale.]

The Word of God, it comes to us

Asking us to go and preach

Instead we tend to run away

Escape becomes the only reach

Some give excuses,

Others just laugh

And Jonah took a ship and sailed away.

Here comes a storm sent by the Lord

Turning everything around you to pieces .

The ship rolled about, so did Jonah's dreams

The next thing he knows, he's in the belly of a huge fish

Then began his journey to his death

Down, deep down in a watery grave.

Surrounded by darkness

Covered with filth

He's not sure if he's dead or alive

But then he gathers

Just enough strength

To pray the prayer, his only prayer .

"My life was slipping away

All doors were shut forever

But one door was open-

The door to heaven

I remembered you, My Lord

And you heard my cry

You're a loving God and

Salvation belongs to only You! "
